Banish Misfortune is a band based in the Dordogne department of south-west France. The musicians met a few years ago at the Rencontres Musicales Irlandaises de Tocane, a well-known Irish music festival that has been running since 1991. Their mix of Irish dance tunes such as jigs, reels, hornpipes and polkas, along with traditional songs, brings a lively energy to any social gathering.
The band leads weekly sessions at the Connemara Irish pub in Bordeaux (Fridays) and monthly sessions at L’Ogrillon restaurant, Douchapt 24350 (first Saturday of the month). They have played for the City of Périgueux, the National Gendarmerie Training Centre, the SNCF Training Campus Bègles, La Vallée festival, and numerous communes, associations and individuals.
